Home to four generations of the Newhall family and four generations of the Harding family. Later a summer home for John Beecroft, editor-in-chief of the the Literary Guild of America. For the past 54 years home to the Merriam family. "One of the most prominent of the remaining houses of the late Colonial/early Federal period that survive in Conway". Remarkably well preserved, with original wide boards, pegged beams and paneling. The Merriams added a second house with more modern amenities but blended it in seamlessly with the original. An additional building housed a bookstore for many years. There are 10 acres with frontage on Shelburne Falls Road and both sides of Newhall Road. Truly a rare and special property.
